Black Meteors head coach Desmond Ofei has selected a 26-man squad to begin Ghanas preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2027 qualifying campaign.
The players are due to report to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
Ghanas Olympic team will step up its preparations at the training camp and is expected to play a series of friendly matches. The squad is scheduled to remain together until the qualifiers begin in November, although players could be released temporarily to fulfil club commitments before rejoining the national team.
Ghana have received a bye into the second qualifying round, where they will meet either Togo or Libya.
The first leg of that tie is scheduled for November 9, 2026, with the return match to be played on November 17, 2026.
Ghanas route to the finals
If the Black Meteors advance, they will move into the final qualifying round and face the winner of the second-round tie between Sao Tome and Principe, Equatorial Guinea and Niger.
Those matches are due to take place between March 22 and 30, 2027.
The three-round qualifying competition will decide the seven teams that join hosts Egypt at the eight-team U-23 AFCON finals.
The tournament also offers Ghana the chance to end a lengthy absence from the mens Olympic football tournament. The Black Meteors last appeared at the Games at Athens 2004.
